Chris Powell has been sacked as manager of Southend United, the League One club have confirmed.Powell, the former England international, has been in charge at Roots Hall since January 2018, but is dismissed after a run of 11 games without a win.

The clubs interests are paramount, but the board are nevertheless disappointed to see Chris Powell leave.”Ricky Duncan, the club’s academy chief, has been installed as interim manager following Powell’s dismissal.
