Former Arsenal star Perry Groves argues with Simon Jordan after saying Gunners are losing touch with elite clubs
Perry Groves and Simon Jordan locked horns live on talkSPORT over the former Crystal Palace chairmans comments about the Gunners being directionless and a dynasty in decline.Straight-talking Jordan pulled no punches as he presented his assessment of Arsenals current financial situation under controversial owner Stan Kroenke. He believes the club are in danger of losing touch with the elite football clubs unless the American tycoon changes his arms-length approach with the Gunners, after years of strict spending.Fans have not been happy with Stan Kroenke’s ownership of Arsenal2

It comes after new manager Unai Emery was told he wouldnt be allowed to make any permanent signings in the January transfer window, leaving the boss scrambling to bring in players on loan before Thursdays deadline.Speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White on Wednesday, Jordan said: This is not an assassination of Arsenal, but I believe they are a slightly declining dynasty for a variety of reasons.Arsenal are on the precipice of being in decline. I watch this Arsenal side and I feel they are directionless. Theyve got a very decent manager and I get the impression he is becoming frustrated.Emery is fighting to get Arsenal back in the top four of the Premier League2

I also believe this is an Arsenal side that cannot afford, financially, to be outside of the Champions League and are likely to be outside of the Champions League for the next half a decade unless something changes in the owners mentality.Arsenal are now an arms-length US subsidiary as far as Stan Kroenke is concerned, in my view. They are only there as part of his asset value, because he has got more pressing matters like the LA Rams and the Colorado rapids and whoever else he owns. As someone who is only really looking at the capital value of the football club to him, if there isnt a chance in their policy then this club will not get back into the Champions League for the next five years.“The likes of Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United will leave Arsenal sitting somewhere they havent been in the last 21 years watching the elite, of which they were a part of, disappear into the horizon. They dont seem to have any money. But Groves took exception to Jordans comments and called into the show to get a few things off his chest. And a heated argument ensued, with Jordan at one point telling the former Arsenal star to grow up.Grab some popcorn and listen to the full exchange between Simon Jordan and Perry Groves on talkSPORT above!
