Liverpool vs Tottenham: Jurgen Klopp explains how side would deal with Mohamed Salah injury repeat
Jurgen Klopp has insisted Liverpool will be able to cope if there is an injury to one of his key players in Saturday’s Champions League final against Tottenham.Mohamed Salah’s night was cruelly cut short in Liverpool’s Champions League final match against Real Madrid last season after he clashed with Sergio Ramos.Salah’s involement in last year’s Champions League final was cruelly cut short through injury2

Apart from Naby Keita, Klopp has a fully fit squad available for the Madrid showpiece despite several of his player’s hampered with injuries in the closing stages of the season.Roberto Firmino has been on the sidelines of late and played just 11 minutes of the semi-final victory over Barcelona, while Salah missed the second-leg tie at Anfield due to concussion. And Klopp has said his side have prepared for a repeat situation of last year’s final. He said: “This season has been our preparation [for a player getting injured in a final]. “Mo and Bobby have missed games. The problem last year wasnt just that we lost Mo, but that Adam Lallana who came on was only available at last minute and Ox was injured.“That made our bench thin. For this team, its our first final. Plus there are the players who are experienced [being there before].“Ali and Fabinho both missed out in the semi-finals. Its the best team Ive had going into a final but Tottenham can say something similar.”

Klopp also argued his side have been unlucky in their two previous European finals, saying Liverpool’s performances haven’t entirely been to blame.“Against Sevilla [in the 2016 Europa League final] the tank was empty in the second half and last year a little bit and we lost Mo as well,” he continued. Last year, a strange first goal, then a bicycle kick. Those goals werent down to our performance.Bale scored a sensational bicycle kick in last year’s finalgetty2

“The difference between us and Tottenham in the league was consistency. Both games we played them was 2-1.“The home game saw a lucky punch for us in the last minute. But emotions will be different [in the final]. Its a special game. We have to bring ourselves in right mood.”
