In a statement released on Twitter, Stoke wrote: “Stoke City can confirm that the club is in discussions with Nathan Jones over the vacant managerial position.”Jones guided Luton to promotion from League Two last season and his side are currently having an impressive season in League One – sitting in second position. The Potters hierarchy will be hoping the 45-year-old is the man who can turn their fortunes around – with the West Midland’s club currently 14th in the Championship.Jones coached at Charlton and Brighton before kicking off his managerial career in January 2016 with Luton. He impressively steered them clear of relegation by winning 11 of his opening 21 matches in charge and, in his first full season at the helm, led them to automatic promotion. This term, he has the Hatters well poised for a second successive promotion. They are currently sitting second in the League One table, five points off top of the table Portsmouth.
